Google Glass: Augment My Reality
Have you used any augmented reality applications? If so, has it been useful; if not, is it a service that seems interesting? Why or why not?
I haven't used any augmented reality applications yet but it seems very interesting. When you use the app everything for example in a museum it will be more fun. Besides that I think that it could be very interesting to use it when you want to buy something. For example what IKEA is doing. People will visualize everything better.
Are there any privacy issues raised by augmented reality applications?
I don't really see any privacy issues. The app just helps you it doesn't need anything of information. Okay the app can register for what you are using it and where you are using it but that isn't that bad in my opinion. It's like any other app. For instance when we compare Foursquare with an augmented reality app (for example: Junaio) than we can conclude that Foursquare invites or privacy more

What are the potential benefits of augmented reality applications? Are there any disadvantages?
There are a lot of benefits certainly for the marketing department. They can make everything so much more interesting and they can take their marketing campaigns to a whole new level. Besides that a shop like IKEA can use this app as well. They can help in the decision-making and they can even make it easier for the customer. Another advantage here is that it gives the customer more information about the product and it could also use as a problem-solving tool.
The biggest disadvantage here is that it cost a lot of money. You need to know if it is worth it. If the most of your customers are older people than I wouldn't use this application in your firm. Besides that people also need the right product to use the tool.
What revenue models could work for providers of augmented services?
The revenue models that could work for provider of augmented services are the subscription revenue model and the sales revenue model.

The revenue models that could work for provider of augmented services are the subscription revenue model and the sales revenue model.
- The subscription revenue model could be used because they give certain content to those who are using the tool. They can ask money every time that they have to give access to certain content.
- The sales revenue model could be used by this tool because they need to give information to people and to make this information available on the tool they can ask money to the company, for example IKEA. Besides that they also need to give a sort of services. When people want to know where the nearest restaurant is that they need to give them information. Here they can ask money every time they have to give information (a service)
Government Regulation and Surveillance of the Internet
How is it possible for any government to “control” or censor the Web?
The government will just block certain sites. Most of the times this will be sites where inhabitants can express a certain feeling or their own opinion. Besides that the government will also control or censor websites that talk in a negative way about the country or where they talk about things that are in contrast with the ideas of the government.
Does the Chinese government, or the U.S. government, have the right to censor content on the Web?
No certainly not because people need to have a free will, they need to form their own opinion. When we keep people away from their own freedom then their "humanity" will be gone. Besides that if they censor it people will find other ways to access that information and after a while people won't accept it anymore and they will start to revolt.
How should companies deal with governments that want to censor content?
First of all they can talk with the government and find an agreement so their content won't be censored.
If that doesn't work, they can ask at the government if they have to change anything. When the government won't participate, they can ask at someone who is familiar with the rules if they have to change anything. Or if they want to save money they can even by a tool that directly scans the document and look for information that would be censored.
What would happen to e-commerce if the existing Web split into a different Web for each country?
They companies would have more work, because they will have to adapt each site to the law of the countries so their content won't be censored. Because of that there will be an increase in costs, which will lead to the end of e-commerce. Why should a company still use e-commerce if they lose more money then they earn from using it?

Is HTML5 Ready for Primetime?
What features of HTML5 are changing the way Web sites are built?
One of the features of HTML 5 that is changing the way Web sites are built is HTML5’s video element. It replaces plug-ins for example Flash, QuickTime, RealPlayer, and it represents a dramatic breakthrough in Web page design. As a result of this, Adobe has now abandoned development of mobile Flash and agreed to use HTML5 as a developer of future tools.
But HTML5 isn't just focussed on the video element but also on the use of the newest versions of CSS3 and Java Script, and another new tool, HTML5 Canvas. This one is also intended to replace plugins, which will reduce page load time.
Besides these 2 features they will also use web-based mobile apps (HTML5 apps), which will work as a Web page. They will do this by using the built-in functionality of mobile devices. So when the user navigates to the page, containing the mobile app, the page content, including graphics, images, and video, are loaded into the browser from the Web server, rather than residing in the mobile device hardware like a native app.
Another feature here is that some HTML5 apps can even be designed so that they can run on mobile devices when they are offline. Differences in how apps run across different platforms and workarounds are eliminated.
Is HTML5 a disruptive technology, and if so, for whom?
It is a disruptive technology for those who are still using and developing the native apps. They will struggle with maintaining and developing these apps.
Are there any disadvantages in Web sites and mobile apps moving to an HTML5 platform?
Those who will now use the HTML5 platform will see that their native apps where faster before they used the HTML5 platform. That's because a great deal of the interface was already on the mobile device. Besides that there are some security and access control issues. For example HTML5 doesn't support digital rights management (DRM).

Apps for Everything: The App Ecosystem
What are apps and why are they so popular?
Apps or applications are little programs, which can run on the Internet, on your computer, on your phone or any other electronic device. Apps are mostly installed on a smartphone and are made to enhance the existing functionality and this in a simple and user-friendlier way.
Apps are becoming more and more popular because first of all the uses of mobile Internet access devices such as smartphones, tablet computers and laptops have truly exploded. People are using their devices more and more and to use it in the best way possible they are using apps on it. Apps are so popular because it is easy to use and it gives you a lot of information. Besides that they give you sometimes offline access to something that normally need an Internet connection to access it.
Do you use any apps regularly? Which ones, and what are their functions?
Yes I use them all the time. Examples are Facebook, Google, Swarm, an agenda, a note block, the App Store, the Qustomer card, Passbook, Dropbox, etc.
I use most of the apps because it makes life easier for me. Like Facebook, Google, Swarm are applications that give you information about things that you want to know and they connect you with people. Besides that I use an agenda and a note block very often. You can just note something down in your note block or in your agenda that you need to remember for later. And then you have the Qustomer card. This is an app that made our lives so much easier. Now you just have to open the app on your phone and you have your customer card for different shops with you. Another application that I love to use is Passbook. Now you don't have to print your tickets anymore and to possibility that you forget them is also smaller. The last app that I really like to use is called Dropbox. When you put all your documents in it that you can access your documents on any device you want wherever you are.
